Thanks to Nole Runyan, the changes mentioned below have already
been made to the JFW installation disks. If you have any questions
about installing the Audapter synthesizer please read the information
below which has been prepared by Nole Runyan.

Hi,
Here's my first pass on modifying your .ini files for JFW SSIL.

The problem with your original ssil.ini files is that JFW is not handling
parameter ranges that vary from negative to positive values. To minimize
impact o on An Openbook and other programs that use your version of the
ssil.ini files, I've tried to modify only those parameters used by JFW.

In the SSIL1.ini, SSIL2.ini files, I changed the rate and volume settings.

I also changed the Init string to use the "Of", instead of "Ol", to force
text to start talking sooner and to avoid the annoying "errrrrrrrr" and
other sustain sounds. This sustain sounds are caused when too much text
is sent to the Audapter without any imbedded start-talking commands. The
"Of" force-text mode can have its own drawbacks.

If you are going to use these SSIL.INI files on a system with the Arkenstone
Openbook, you should also modify the openbook.ini file maxsentencebuffer
line to have a max length of 128, instead of 512.

The audaptc1.ini and audaptc2.ini files I've included seem to better
startup default than the values originally generated by the JFW setup
program.

I've also included copies of my win.ini and system.ini, in case they
may prove helpful for clarifying any configuration differences between my
system and yours.

I've tested these new settings briefly. They seem to work well with JFW
and Openbook. Hopefully they are a general improvement.

Cordially,
Noel H. Runyan
